Tea tree oil has antibacterial antiviral and anti-fungal properties. So, it can help your immunity system to fight sinus infections. Also, tea tree oil is an excellent anti-inflammatory remedy. So tea oil will relieve the swelling feeling in your nose and sinuses. 

Lavender essential oils for sinus infections

Lavender oil is a prevalent remedy used as a cosmetic, an anti-stress agent, and anti-anxiety medication, etc. Also, lavender oil is widely used to improve the symptoms of sinus infection. Lavender essential oil reduces both pain and swelling feeling.

Peppermint essential oils for sinus infections

Many people use peppermint oil to get rid of sinusitis. Directly inhaling peppermint oil is helpful if you have stiffed nose. The cooling effect of peppermint oil can improve your symptoms within a short time. Peppermint contains menthol. Menthol can trigger the mucus receptors in the nose. This effect will clear the mucus-filled in the nose. Also, it will open the airway. So, you can breathe without any interruption.

How to use essential oils for sinus infections?

Inhale steam – In Asian countries, inhaling steam is an excellent method to get rid of cold. Asian indigenous doctors always recommended steaming for sinus infections. So, it is a side effect free way to get rid of cold. Also, adding a few drops of essential oils to the water pot can increase the effect of steaming.

Directly inhale essential oils – Add a few drops of essential oil to a dry cloth and inhale it. My personal choice is peppermint oil. This will provide an instant improvement of symptoms. You can keep a dropper bottle of essential oil in your bag. So, whenever you feel like “Oh I have a sinus infection”, you can use this method to get rid of it at the beginning.

 

Using essential oil candles – You can buy candles which contains essential oils from the internet. Lighting one of these candles will disperse the essential oils in gas form to the air.

Electric diffuser – An electric diffuser can disperse the essential oils to the air. So, you can continuously inhale the essential oil while working, sleeping or doing something else.
